Kamahemahe Hwy - driving to North Shore

We drove up the east coast of Oahu through the little towns along the way. It reminds us a lot of the coastal towns in the Yucatan Pennisula. We stopped at the only Macadamean nut grower on the island -- and sampled some delicious varieties. The Macadamean coffee there was fabulous. We made it back to our car just in time for a downpour. Short, intense, warm -- then done.

We stopped at a little bay where some locals were fishing. 5 little islands were offshore about 400 feet. A tsunami punched a hole through one of the islands a few years ago.

We stopped at one of the shrimp vendors in Kahuku -- Giavonis. Looks like a real dive selling local shrimp out of a big white panel van, but the fresh garlic shrimp was good.

We got to Turtle Bay about 4. They don't have walls going into their lobby -- it's all open because the constant 75-85 degree temperatures here. It's beautiful. The north shore is beautiful. Our room is beautiful. We walked along the beach and enjoyed the lingering sunset. Watched a turtle in our bay for a long time. Enjoyed the tiki torch lit pathways. They even light up the ocean at night so you can see the waves.

We slept with our sliding glass door open and listened to the ocean all night.
This morning we were up early -- watched the moonrise and then the sunrise over the ocean from our balcony.

It couldn't be better. We are so blessed. We're just soaking it in.
